About this ARG reference

This site is an independent reference for ThisIsNotAWebSiteDotCom, the interactive terminal ARG created by Alex Hirsch, and for the wider Gravity Falls real-world puzzle lineage it belongs to. It is written for readers who want to understand what the artefact is, how it works, and how to interact with it safely.

Coverage and scope

We cover the terminal site itself and the franchise context it sits in: the homepage reference for what the site is, the technical breakdown of what is in the page, the decoding guide for the ciphers in its responses, the safety page for the impersonation problem, and the sources page for full attribution. How we handle unverified claims

This is the core editorial decision on this site, and it is worth stating plainly. A site like this generates a large volume of confident, specific, second-hand description: passwords, lists of accepted commands, dates, and hidden references. Most of it cannot be confirmed at the source, and repeating it unlabelled would be exactly the failure mode this site exists to avoid.

So we separate three categories explicitly throughout. Verified means we loaded the live artefact or confirmed it against a rights-holder source. Community-reported means the claim circulates widely and consistently but we have not confirmed it at the source. Analysis means our own reading, labelled as such. Where we restate a community claim, we say so in the sentence rather than in a footnote, so a reader who skims still sees the caveat.

What we will not do

We will not host, mirror, proxy, or reproduce the ARG, its assets, its imagery, or its audio. We will not present a community claim as a verified fact. We will not state or imply that this site is affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Alex Hirsch. We will not republish book text. And we will not publish a list of "all commands" that would let someone skip the site entirely, because the site is the point.
